Retired Gen. John Kelly a four-star general and 45-year Marine veteran, is the former commander of U.S. Southern Command, where he focused on U.S. border security, organized crime, terrorist organizations and drug traffickers. After less than a year in retirement General Kelly was offered the opportunity to serve the nation. On January 20, 2017 he was sworn in as the 5th US Secretary of Homeland Security and after six months, he was selected to serve as White House Chief of Staff a position he held until January 2019.
